Silage clamp stock Calculator

Estimate fresh and available dry-matter stock in a clamp. This free silage clamp stock calculator shows the calculation and its assumptions so you can compare your own figures.

How the silage clamp stock calculation works

Fresh tonnes = volume × fresh density ÷ 1,000. Retained stock applies storage loss; dry matter applies measured DM fraction.

Use average actual height, representative density and forage analysis. Density and loss vary with chop length, packing, fermentation and storage.

Using this calculator

  1. Enter your own figures in the labelled inputs. Keep the currencies, units and time periods consistent.
  2. Choose any applicable rate profile, pattern or assumption shown for this tool. Open additional inputs when relevant.
  3. Review retained fresh tonnes and available dry matter tonnes, then read the stated assumptions and eligibility conditions before using the result.
